Tengu at YouTube

It's been almost a year since I first conceived and shot Tengu. So I thought it was time that I put it on YouTube for the public at large. It's always been the film, along with Girl Alone, that I've been most proud of, and is the film that best 'represents ' my directorial style.

5 facts about Tengu
  1. Tengu is shot and edited using a technique that I like to refer to as VideoScoping or the VS Effect. This gives the film an almost animated look.
  2. The lady behind the mask is amateur stage actress Seiko Sugimura.
  3. The film largely adheres to the Rule of Three. Three locations, three scenes, three emotions, three pieces of music, three principal colours.
  4. The film was first shown to a public audience at Tokyo Design Festa in December 2006. The film generally received warm praise from those who watch it.
  5. The Tengu mask that Seiko wears was unfortunately damaged during shooting and now has a large hole on the left side.
