Tengu at YouTube

It's been almost a year since I first conceived and shot Tengu. So I thought it was time that I put it on YouTube for the public at large. It's always been the film, along with Girl Alone, that I've been most proud of, and is the film that best 'represents ' my directorial style.

5 facts about Tengu
  1. Tengu is shot and edited using a technique that I like to refer to as VideoScoping or the VS Effect. This gives the film an almost animated look.
  2. The lady behind the mask is amateur stage actress Seiko Sugimura.
  3. The film largely adheres to the Rule of Three. Three locations, three scenes, three emotions, three pieces of music, three principal colours.
  4. The film was first shown to a public audience at Tokyo Design Festa in December 2006. The film generally received warm praise from those who watch it.
  5. The Tengu mask that Seiko wears was unfortunately damaged during shooting and now has a large hole on the left side.

Virus : Actress, Make-up, Bug-wrangler Needed.

I am planning to be quite busy this summer with 3 film projects in the pipeline. One of them will be an experimental short film called Virus.
Virus will be about a woman who is zombified by a viral infection from an insect bite. She then unwittingly passes the infection on to her lover. It's of course an analogy for one of today's biggest problems, HIV/AIDS.

I'm now looking for a suitable actress to play the part of the woman.
Nationality and appearance is not so important. Just enthusiasm and a little bit of bravery are needed.

In addition I need a make-up artist and a 'Bug-Wrangler'
...if anyone can help me out with these two then drop me a line.

Jakey off with Cornelius again...

MJ Ultra band mate and top mate Jakey is off on tour with Cornelius again this week. So, once more we won't be able to rehearse for while. I believe he's in Spain this weekend and I'm sure he's having a great time. I found this cool Cornelius video on YouTube. I quite like this track, it's a good mix of rock and dance and has a 60's psychedelic flavour to it. Video is pretty cool too.

The deafening sound of silence

"hello darkness my old friend..." the lyric goes. People over 30 will probably get that reference.

Thanks to all the people who contacted me about (project) Kiss and with helping me get a few videos made. I appreciate it and I will get back to you all (Tommy, Yumi, Michi, Peter, John M) soon and let you know when I would like to have a meeting.

This month I am planning to attend The Fujisawa Film Night at the Milkbar in Fujisawa on Sunday June 17th. I will hopefully be showing 3 of my short films. I have chosen to show Tengu, wInTeR gHoStS and Dystopia, as I feel these three best represent the direction that I am trying to move in at the moment; dark, ghostly music videos.
