Jacobs Ladder : Influences Pt2

I'm not sure how many of you out there know about this movie. It stars Tim Robbins as a Vietnam war Vet who returns to New York to find his mind frazzled by the 'experimental drugs' that the US military gave him to make him more aggressive. However (plot spoiler alert) he dreamed the whole thing and was actually lying on his deathbed the whole time. It's one of those movies that messes with your mind and asks questions about our ability to decipher between our dreams and reality. What is our existence? Mental or Physical? I'm sure the Warkowski Brothers saw this because they use the same idea in the Matrix Trilogy.

Interiors (2006)

As a prelude to the upcoming GIRL ALONE I put together a short 1 minute atmosphere piece. A kind of visual poem. It's about the idea of loss and being alone. This is the second part of this years trilogy of films about isolation. Adam's music video rendition of Tom Waits classic 'Poncho's lament' being the first part. For this short I used test footage that I shot last summer when I was planning to film GIRL ALONE. The interior shots are at a friends house (I shall not disclose the name) and the music is by Oakum, a band featuring my friend Joe Harper. Those of you who have seen BLOODSHOT will recognise the noise as we used it in that film. The words on the screen are from a poem I wrote in 1999 called silent. As such this under copyright 1999 Richard Loffman/Station Phobos.

Adam Williams : Live in Aobadai (2006)

Well here it is...a little video I put together over the weekend. It's a short music clip of Adam Williams recorded live in a bar in Aobadai, Yokohama last winter. The song he's performing is Poncho's Lament, by Tom Waits. For more details on this look at the previous post on 1/15/2006.

SORRY THIS FILM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Mini Guitar Studio

I went out today and spent a little money on a nice Vox amp and a Tascam 4-track and a few other bits and pieces. I already have my electro-acoustic and some effects pedals so I'm nicely set up now to start making some 'movie' music. I'm going to score GIRL ALONE myself so this mini-studio will at the very least allow me to write and record my ideas.

Girl Alone Update 5

Mean Joe
Joe's a really bad guy. He's mean, selfish and bad-tempered. I'm not sure what the girl sees in him.
