History cancelled...so what's next?

I have decided not to shoot History (a short film I've been working on) this spring. There are a number of reasons for this. The main one being that I have found it hard to find crew. I spoke to a few individuals but nothing came off so I thought it was best if I cancelled the whole thing as I want it to be well made and special, so I didn't want to compromise on the quality.

Anyway with History off the agenda I will concentrate on the music I'm playing with MJ Ultra and continue to explore avenues and possibilities for getting Rain made. In fact at the moment I'm looking for a graphic artist who can help me make some basic storyboards and then I will make a video storyboard that I can use to sell the film to potential producers. It will be a kind of faux trailer but will be a very useful tool to create hype and interest.

Graphic Artists or Comic Artists please get in touch.

300

300 Official Website

I have to say that few upcoming films these days get me really excited but this is one has really whetted my interest. I won't say to much about it it here, just check out the official site. Fans of Frank Miller and LOTR type fantasy movies will love this.

Mid Winter

Well it's been a while since I last blogged (if I can use blog as a verb?) and to be honest there hasn't been a lot going on. On the film front, I have been trying to recruit staff for History, my short film project. So far I have 3 or 4 people who are looking to help out and an actress who's interested in the role, but things will start moving a little more from February 4th when I'm planning to have a meeting in Tokyo with those who are interested.

On the music front, I have been rehearsing with MJ Ultra in preparation for a live show sometime next month. It's fun playing with them. I nice fusion of dance music and rock. And even more fun since I brought my Fender Telecaster to Japan from England...

Rain

One of my main ambitions for 2007 is to get things started on my first feature film. Throughout this year I will be looking for producers and film companies who can help me get this movie off the ground.

Rain starts here...

Sisters Of Mercy - Walk Away

As I am often mentioning on this blog I am a real big fan of early to mid 80's Gothic music. References to the music and the image seem to permeate through all my work from the music I compose, to the images I construct, and the stories I write. I really find it difficult to get away from...and just maybe, I don't really want to.

So here's one of my favourite bands performing one of my favorite songs in a nicely lit video from 1985. (Thanks to YouTube)

Victor/JVC stuff sucks!

We have a saying "that if you buy c**p then you get c**p"..and so it is with Victor/JVC products. The headphones that I purchased last year have started show a few signs of wear and tear, that's OK, but once those plastic coverings wear away then the headphones will fall apart as this seems to be the only thing holding the foam on. Plus, I bought a 3 pack of MiniDV tapes and ALL 3 of them 'chewed up' whilst I was recording. I thought it was my camera's fault so I sent my camera off to Canon to get looked at, and it came back with a note saying that there was nothing wrong with it. I've since gone back to Sony MiniDV and haven't had any problems.

Don't buy Victor/JVC products, it's just not worth trying to save a few Yen/Cents/Pennies, just go for the good stuff.

wInTeR gHoStS is here...

I had a little bit more free time than I had anticipated this week so I've able to finish off a short film that I had originally planned to release on January 15th, so it's 10 days early.

wInTeR gHoStS is made up three elements...footage of Design Festa visitors, a short poem that I wrote after attending Design Festa and some noise that I put together in Audacity (audio editing program)...this is all thrown in the mixer and I've used the VS Effect to give it texture.

You can see it at
